National Association for Black Journalists (NABJ) The National Association of Black Journalist is an organization of journalists, students and media-related professionals that provides quality programs and services to and advocates on behalf of black journalists worldwide. NABJ is committed to the strengthening ties among black journalists, sensitizing all media to workplace fairness for black journalists, expanding opportunities for all including young and aspiring black journalists and increasing the number of black journalists within management positions or entrepreneurship,fostering an exemplary group of professional that honors excellence and outstanding achievements by black journalists and for the media industry as a whole. NABJ also works with high schools and colleges to identify and encourage black students to become journalists.
National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) The National Association of Hispanic Journalists is dedicated to the recognition and professional advancement of Hispanics in the news industry. Goals of the organization includes providing mutual support for Hispanics involved in gathering or dissemination of news, the study of journalism and communications by Hispanics, and to promote the fair treatment of Hispanics by the media. Native American Journalists Association (NAJA) The Native American Journalists Association serves and empowers Native journalists through programs and actions designed to enrich journalism and promote Native cultures. NAJA recognizes Native Americans as distinct peoples based on tradition and culture. In this spirit, NAJA educates and unifies its membership through journalism programs that promote diversity and defends challenges to free press, speech and expression. NAJA is committed to increase the representation of Native journalists in mainstream media. NAJA encourages both mainstream and tribal media to attain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and responsibility.
National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) NLGJA is an organization of journalists, media professionals, educators and students working from within the news industry to foster fair and accurate coverage of LGBT issues. NLGJA opposes all forms of workplace bias and provides professional development to its members. NLGJA's goals is to enhance the professionalism, skills and career opportunities for LGBT journalists, strengthen the identity, respect and status of LGBT journalists in the newsroom and throughout the practice of journalism, advocate for the highest journalistic and ethical standards in the coverage of LGBT issues, collaborate with other professional journalist associations and promote the principles of inclusion and diversity within our ranks and to provide mentoring and leadership to future journalists.
